2003 Fender Marcus Miller Artist Series Signature Jazz Bass Natural

Up for sale, a stunning Fender Marcus Miller Jazz Bass in Natural finish with Maple neck, Crafted in Japan in 2003, with an American Made early ’80s Fender Molded Hard case.

Based on Marcus Miller’s 1977 Fender Jazz Bass, it has all the features you can expect from a late ’70s Jazz Bass with its signature active onboard preamp, BadAss II bridge and neck pickup cover.

As expected on a period correct instrument, a beautiful figured Ash body with Maple neck (bound neck with block inlays), 3 bolt neck F plate with bullet truss rod. 3-ply black extended pickguard with a US made Jazz Bass set of pickups and its MM’s signature preamp with Bass – Treble boost.

Weighting at 11.2 lbs, which is average for an Ash body instrument from the era, however it’s pretty well balanced. The Natural Glossy Polyr finish combined with the original 3-ply black pickguard and a Maple neck with White binding and pearl block inlays creates a stunning combination. This is an amazing example of a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass, which is well known for its Characteristic punch, attack and bright sound. The instrument has some visible wear due to its age, however the bass is in Very good condition and it’s been played or used with the utmost care.

The neck is incredible, a massive all Maple neck with a great flame and the typical skunk stripe, very smooth to play. It’s a medium (not too chunky) neck profile (0.820″ Neck thickness at 1st fret and .940″ at 12th fret). Nut width is 1.5″. The Neck is perfectly straight, with truss rod functioning both ways. Originally and throughout the years, the MM Jazz Bass came with no case or gig bag , however this particular one comes with a 1980’s Made in USA Fender plastic molded hard case (which is in good condition, with some noticeable wear (one broken hinge and small crack on the bottom) although all latches working and the case is fully functional.
